Taking to the skies … again

Thank God men cannot fly, and lay waste the sky as well as the earth.”
Henry David Thoreau

Oh dear, poor old Thoreau would be turning in his grave. We are almost too embarrassed to admit that we are about to take to the skies again.

But it’s not always easy sailing is it?  When we wrote our departure post from Sydney airport in April, we were supremely confident. Our flight TO Sydney had gone smoothly and all looked good for an on-time departure FROM Sydney. Then the travel gods punished us for our hubris and had us sitting in the plane on the tarmac for some 2 hours or so while a little problem was fixed. Still, we did arrive in LA safely and are thankful for that.

Anyhow, check-in went smoothly at both airports, with Sue being chuffed when the check-in clerk at Canberra airport noted that her bag, at 10.3kg, was lighter than Len’s 12.9kg. We both have the same brand and style case. Woo hoo!

Next time you hear from us we will be in warm Singapore.
